Winona’s 3rd

She had a birthday last week…. my baby girl…..she wanted a kitty on her cake.

I tried 😉

I decided to make marshmallow fondant and use that to form the kitty….. I had these great ideas in my head when I started….. too bad the great ideas didn’t make it outside my cranium.  Oh well, the fondant was good.  Have you ever made your own fondant?  Much, much, much more better than store bought.  Here’s a little tutorial for making it.  Super easy!  I found it on Pinterest.  What?  Don’t you Pinterest?  Well, I must confess, I held off for as long as I could.  I simply didn’t need any more time wasted on the internet.  But a couple of months ago, I caved.  So here’s my Pinterest.   I’m just getting started — hope to spend more time organizing and pinning over the winter…… you know, when I have a couple of hours to get sucked into the boards.  🙂

Anyway…. back to the cake….. the icing was part fondant and part buttercream.  LOVE buttercream….. only problem is that I eat so much of it while I’m decorating the cake that I don’t want to eat any cake when it’s all done!

So…. I’ll never be in a cake decorating contest…. but it was good tasting anyway.

Watchout Christmas!  Nona has this present opening thing down to an art!

No messing around… this is serious business!

….open, love, put down, open, love, put down…. repeat until all presents are opened.

And one more….. to put in the blackmail folder.

So thankful for my little girl…. for another year to love on her and watch her grow… and hear her say, “Mom, when I grow up I want to be just like you.” …. and think to myself….. Nona girl, I hope you grow up to be just like yourself….. Momma still has a long way to go ….. (Dear God, paa-leeze help me to be a good example of what you want her to be……)

Oh…. and one more thing to be thankful for (as I wipe the tears from my eyes)…. that the flying piece of glass that made the laceration on Wyatt’s face (full skin thickness, had to be glued but should have been sutured) didn’t hit and inch in either direction.

I’m quite sure that some things don’t happen just by chance….. thank God.

  • Southern Gal - Happy Birthday to your sweet girl! Three already? How many years have I been reading here?

The cake is cute. You did a better job than i would have. I feel myself being drawn down the slippery slope that leads to Pinterest. I’ve avoided it for so long.

And I was going to ask about the injury before I read what happened. So thankful it wasn’t as serious as it could have been.ReplyCancel

  • Jenny - Great kitty cake! Where’d you find those fun candles? Glad Wyatt is ok!ReplyCancel
