Thankfulness | Happiness doubled by Wonder

I believe in being thankful …… thankful for the blessings that come my way….. thankful even when it seems there is little to be thankful for.  And during this month of thankfulness, I want to stop and make note of some of the things I have to be thankful for.  So each week, I will write a post filled with thankfulness.  Feel free to add the things in your life which you are thankful for…

… I’d love to read the thoughts from your thankful heart.

Today….. I am thankful for beauty.  It seems like such a superfluous thing to say….. of course we are all thankful for beauty.  Beauty is food for the eye, the soul, the heart.  But to truly find beauty in the everyday…. that is what I am most thankful for…… what I look for.

Today …. I am thankful for silence….. stolen in small packets of time……. moments when I am me again….. just me.

Today …. I am thankful for chaos….. dance parties in the kitchen…. books strewn all over the living room rug….. arms, legs, heads all jumbled and thrown around me….. to remind me that I am not alone.

Today …. I am thankful for hugs….. I really LOVE hugs….. hugs from little arms, big arms, and even bigger, stronger arms….. soft, fleeting hugs of a butterfly, and tight, snuggley hugs that go on forever and ever.

Today …. I am thankful for warmth….. the fireplace in our living room, the blankets draped over the sofa, the thick down comforter on our bed, and the welcoming warm arms found inside.

Today…. I am thankful for chocolate….. really.and.truly……. way too much!

Today…. I am thankful for a heart surprised by wonder…. wonder fed by the delight of children…. happiness doubled by wonder……

“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought; and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.”  ~G.K. Chesterton

  • John Archer - Happiness: That indescribably wonderful incredible feeling of fulfillment, within, that swells up from the heart when we are connected to the power of our breath with a feeling of appreciation and gratitude for the life that we have been given. More commonly known as love. With that feeling, everything is right with the world and our soul is in peace.ReplyCancel
