Snow Day

Today school was called due to snow…. mounds and  mounds of blowing snow…..

snow that you shouldn’t bother shoveling because it blows right back where you took it from…

We tried to go sledding…. but the snow was too deep to get going very fast…

…. and those darn mittens kept falling off…. brrrrrrr.

And as the snowflakes collected on our lashes and nose…..

….and our fingers and toes turned to ice….

….and the wind whipped our faces to a ripe reddened glow….

We thought it best to check on the beasts and head back inside…..

…for some warmth by the fire and blankets and books (and a nap I wish)

  • JillsyGirl - OMG! Wendy, how in the heck did you achieve that first shot?? What lens did you use, if you don’t mind me asking? Magnificent! All of them!ReplyCancel

  • Wendy - Hello Jillsy!
I used my 105mm macro, and then cheated a bit by cropping in. Still, it takes a willing subject and steady hands to get a nice crisp macro this close. It really is a wonderful lens, and I don’t use it as much as I should! Thank you for the kind words!ReplyCancel

  • Southern Gal - Those snowflakes on those lashes? Breathtakingly beautiful. And to think no two snowflakes are the same. Amazing.ReplyCancel

  • bobi crisan - wow… is all I gotta say, I love all of them. the first one does def catch your eye but i also love the cows and the one with the boy blowing on the snow in his hands. very great photos. I am new to your site and seem to not be able to click back onto my blog to finish composing my post because I can’t get enough of your photography.ReplyCancel

    • Wendy - Hello Bobi,

Welcome! So glad you are enjoying my site. I checked out your blog. Love the photos you’ve done of your sister (I think that is who that beautiful girl is?) Have you tried the 50mm f/1.4 G lens yet? I think since you are on a crop sensor you would really like it…. and it won’t break the bank quite as much as an 85mm. It’s a great lens too! Thanks for stopping by!ReplyCancel
