Sunrise on the windward side of O’ahu……
…..just moments apart.
Amazing how quickly the light changes close to the equator….. the sunrises and sunsets seem to happen really fast.
Our second day in O’ahu, our wonderful host took us to the trail-head of a short hike up the hill side where a couple of pill-box lookouts from WWII were located. We arrived just in time to catch the sun as it rose from the misty clouds over the ocean. The climb was a little steep and rocky in places, and I’m a little chagrined to say that some people (young and lithe) ran the whole way up. We didn’t. However, we plodded along and after stopping to view the sunrise, we continued on over the hills for a mile or two. It was beautiful.
Looks like I really should have run up the hill (although my knees would have complained bitterly afterward) 😉
We were surprised to find about a half dozen different species of cacti. Hawaii was full of surprises for me…. not all what I thought it would be in my mind’s eye.
This one’s just for Molly — the Lewis and Clark pose….
….just imagine yourself back in 1942 — scanning the horizon for intruders…
