Here Comes the Dog

It was a magical winter afternoon in the north…. a day when the light was warm to look at but much too chilly to feel.

And suddenly into the scene….. a soft warm dog trotted majestically …..

“Here comes the dog…strong and brave”  (don’t tell me you’ve never seen Milo and Otis — certainly you must)

Yes, there you have it — we have our own little Otis (although she’s a girl and her name is Sadie).  We love her dearly after adopting her only a few short weeks ago.

And she loves us too  (even though she regularly gets led around by her “belt” and is made to sit dutifully and listen to a certain little girl’s endless stories)

She loves to cuddle, to sit on cushions, to terrorize the stuffed animals, and bark madly at the goat (who completely ignores her).

Oh…. and she loves to snort and shower us with tiny droplets of saliva and she snores more than my husband — good thing she sleeps downstairs.

(see all the droplets flying behind her head?)

Yes, it was an afternoon with yummy warm light — the light that reminds me of warm summer evenings to come …the light I love so much…

……and in the middle of winter — this light is short, sweet, and hard to come by … a treasured gift….. much like our new family member.

And then it is over, much too soon.

The End.
